Yellow Ostrich - Marathon Runner

I posted another Yellow Ostrich song back in May, so maybe this is a little late coming around, but I just keep coming back to this song, well the whole album really, but particularly "Marathon Runner".



They still have more tour dates coming up this fall.  I sadly didn't manage to see them when they played at Mississippi Studios here in Portland (which is an awesome venue), but hopefully I can catch them the next time around.  And in the meantime, I'll keep listening to this great album.

Yellow Ostrich - The Shakedown

I found out about this song through February's monthly playlist by the blog "we all want someone to shout for."  The blog has been a great source of new music for me, found by my delightful friend Laura.



Brooklyn-based Yellow Ostrich started out as the solo effort of Alex Schaaf, but on this, his third Yellow Ostrich album, he is joined by Michael Tapper on drums and Jon Natchez on bass and horns.  They're touring a bunch this summer, with both Of Monsters and Men and Los Campesinos, so hopefully everyone gets a chance to see them live.
